Posted on Thursday 29 October 2009

DynaSis IT recently released a whitepaper about Softare as a Service and discussing the benefits that can be reaped from the use of SaaS in creating centralized IT solutions transforming IT into utilities. SaaS refers to a software deployment model where in a provider licenses applications to clients to use on demand. The whitepaper also tackled the growing trend of SaaS use for centralizing the management and deployment of IT as well as cost saving figures coming from leading researchers.

DynaSis IT is a provider of managed IT solutions catering to small and medium-scale enterprises. In its whitepaper, the company explained how traditional networks used by SMBs to maintain their equipment and data process are not cost-effective. SaaS enables companies to minimize cost investments on technologies like storage, managed hosting, email, application upgrades and security, allocating the savings to advanced technologies such as data mining, data warehousing, CRM and ERP solutions that can help maintain their competitive advantage.

The said document also examined the levels of IT maturity. It explained that an IT infrastructure and systems can be grouped according to levels - from the chaotic and reactive to the highest levels of managed approach using IT. Companies that are classified under managed, utility and proactive maturity levels get to maximize the value of IT systems, thereby providing them with significant long term savings. Managed services solutions such as SaaS will be able to make the transition possible.

According to David Moorman, President of DynaSis, the company had to produce the document because it helps companies understand how their daily management approaches are affecting their competitive advantage. He explains that an SaaS solution enables companies to focus on their core business. IT staff can be encouraged to spend their time tapping into new technologies that will enhance efficiency instead of dwelling on such mundane tasks as computer network maintenance.
